STOP THE MADNESS from a mad mom.

Let's not put up with the stupidity, smut and irresponsibility surrounding us and our kids ANYMORE!! We can make it stop by removing the incentive to continue in those behaviors. It continues because someone is making money. Let's boycott anything: TV, film, publications, music, language, behavior... that in any way says stupidity, smut and irresponsibility is ok. We can also go to TV, theatre, magazine, bookstore, music store, concert venue and advertiser websites and tell them we will no longer be supporting them in any way.

A Liberal Who Gets It: Global Warming/Roy Innis

This is an article by Roy Innis, a Liberal and long time Chairman of a well known civil rights organization. His understanding of the impacts of global warming hysteria is important to hear. Copy and paste this link into your browser:

Can a person be gay and Christian?

I had a friend named Joe Hallett. He was funny and smart and he had a beautiful singing voice. He died of AIDS a few years ago. Before he died he wrote an article in response to Mel White's book, "A Stranger At the Gate". I was assigned this book in a class I took for teacher diversity training. I found it very interesting, but wanted to hear another perspective on the matter, which Joe's article provided. Another book that helped provide the "other side of the story" is titled, "A Strong Delusion" by Joe Dallas. I recommend reading both White's and Dallas' books to gain a better understanding of this issue.

Excellent Resource for Well-Educated Biblical Viewpoints

Its hard to find scholars that are trustworthy and sensible. One I've grown to trust over many years of reading the papers on his website, is Hank Hanagraff at equip.org. He offers a good resource called the Christian Research Institute Journal. More recent articles are not available to see, but older ones are downloadable. There is a SEARCH box to look for info on tons of subjects.

An Athiest's story...this can't really be possible, can it?

Yes, it really is possible. I've read his books... and was surprised to see a movie at Blockbuster of the same title. The video is very good. Check out "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel. Its a documentary of Lee's (a professional journalist from Chicago Tribune) investigation of the validity of the story of Christ. His intent was to prove it invalid... and he interviews multiple experts from Universities all over the country.

Is the book, "Ishmael" (Quinn) misleading?

Yes... I finally finished my review of this book... its long, sorry. You can find it under the December 2007 posts, same title.

Is there a spiritual realm?

Yes. I'm reading Billy Graham's book, "Angels: Ringing Assurance that we are Not Alone". The idea that there is a spiritual battle going on just beyond the realm of our natural senses makes perfect sense to me. I believe mankind was originally designed by God for complete access to that realm, but lost that sense in the Fall. Like someone losing their eyesight, they can no longer see it, but the visual world is still very much there. For some, I'm sure, this sounds absolutely insane. I know, however, that if we are open to the idea of spiritual regeneration through Christ, that we can actually see, hear, feel glimpses of the spiritual realm, although dimly. I think children can be especially sensitive to the spiritual realm. When my daughter was about 3 yrs. old, we were riding in the car one day. It had been a quiet ride for some time, I was lost in thought... when out of the blue, she said, sounding surprised, "Mommy... who said Alleluiah?" The only reason I can think of, to explain why she might have heard that word at that time (an unusual word for a 3 yr. old), was that she had heard her guardian angel audibly speak.

I also think that, in the interest of doing whatever it takes to lead people away from God's plan for restoring a relationship with Him through Christ, our enemy, Satan, masquerades in all sorts of ways, to fool us. I believe ghosts and "apparitions" for example, are just demon's acting like lost loved ones, that knowledgable fortune telling, etc, is possible because demons know the details of our lives, too, and they use that knowledge to make people believe in "mediums, astrology, etc." rather than Jesus. I believe these sorts of pursuits fill our hearts with false hope and distract us from pursuing and understanding the real hope that is available in Christ. (2 Cor. 11:14- ...Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light".) This type of distraction and false hope can, sadly, make one's entire life a lie.
